Service begins at 10 am – all are welcome!
After the service at 11 am, there will be a gathering at St. Lazar’s Hall for children with food and gifts.
On the morning of Materice, children the legs of their mothers whilst sitting on a chair. The mother, as if surprised, asks why she has been tied. The children then wish a Happy Feast of Materice to her and she then pays the “ransom” with prepared presents after which they untie her.
